To honor our beloved Matt Randol, there will be a visitation from 11 to 12:30 p.m. at the Izaak Walton League on Saturday, May 4, 2066 Stagecoach Road, in Ames. Matt was born on Dec. 20, 1960, in Cedar Rapids and raised in Ames. He graduated from Ames High School in 1979. Over forty years ago, the Hansen family took Matt in as an apprentice and taught him how to be one of the most respected mechanics in Ames. They also welcomed him into their family as one of their own at Ken's Pro, Kemp's, Butch's and most recently at Mark Hansen's Auto Repair. Matt and Shari were married at Clearwater Beach in Florida on Aug. 4, 2013. They enjoyed mushroom hunting, traveling and spending time with their children and grandchildren. They also enjoyed spending time with close friends, the Obranovic's, traveling the world, as well as weekly get-togethers. Matt enjoyed teaching his grandsons about hunting and car repair. You could also find Matt sneaking away for the occasional fishing trip. Matt was cared for and survived by his loving wife Shari Dykstra-Randol; children Amanda Frahm and Lance Frahm; grandchildren Tyson Breuklander and Keagan Millard; sisters Lori (Peter) Arnesen and Cindy (Mark) Hadaway; mother-in-law Jane Dykstra; brother-in-law Bryan Dykstra, several nieces and nephews, as well as many close friends. Matt was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Arla Randol, and his father-in-law, Bevan Dykstra.
