| Description | : | Matthew Clark was born in Roxham, Canada. He was the son of William Burbury Clark and Nancy Straker, who were natives of England. Matthew came to Iowa with his parents in 1857, settling in Eagle Township. He served in the Civil War from 1861 to 1965 in the Union Army. In 1866, he married Hannah Hayes. She died in 1873. He then married, in 1874, Sarah E. Riskemier (not sure of spelling). |
