Description	:	The death The death of James Marsden, an early resident of this vicinity , occurred Thursday at his home in Union Prairie township, following an extended period of declining health which terminated in a paralytic stroke and caused his demise He was tenderly cared for during his last illness by his son Frank and grandson Roy Steele and wife who maintained his home. Read More	The death The death of James Marsden, an early resident of this vicinity , occurred Thursday at his home in Union Prairie township, following an extended period of declining health which terminated in a paralytic stroke and caused his demise He was tenderly cared for during his last illness by his son Frank and grandson Roy Steele and wife who maintained his home. Deceased was a son of Mr and Mrs Mathew Marsden and was born in Galena Ill Jan 21, 1859. He came with his parents to this country when a child, settling on a farm now owned by Gustave Troendal near Lycurgus. In September 1844 he was united in marriage here at Waukon with Miss Mary Jones, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Elam Jones, also an early resident of Union Prairie. They settled ion the farm where his death occurred about 44 years ago. •Seven children were born to this union, all of whom survive to mourn the passing of both parents, Mrs. Marsden having died in 1930. They are Mrs Jesse Johnson, Mapleton Minn, Louis Marsden, Cottonwood Montana, Frank at home, and James, Bert , Arthur, and Mrs Dudey O'Hara , all of this vicinity. One sister, Mrs Max Wittingler of Waukon also survives. Mr. Marsden's death occurred on his sisters birthday, as did also their father who passed away when Mrs. Willingler was nine years old. •FuneMemorialral services were held Saturday morning at St Mary's Catholic Church , Hanover, a requiem mass being celebrated by Fahter Reynolds. Buriel was in Oakland cemetary beside the remains of his wife. The remains were carried to their last resting place by by Albert Lilliard, Fred Hancock, Leonard Ryan, James Collins, Williard Cunningham, and Joseph Farley. •RelatRelatives i in attendence at the funeral were Mrs Jesse Johnson, Mapleton Minn, Mrs Leo Duffy, Dallas Texas, Mrs J.A. Huber, Vernon Texas, and Merle Johnson, Winnebago Minn.
