He was married twice, (1) Sept 16, 1816 Adams Co., Ohio to Rebecca Curtis, had children: Irene, Jeptha, Samuel, William, Mary, Paul, Thursa Ann, Joseph C and Mathew C. Owner of a tanner establishment. Matthew Kincaid was reared and brought up on a farm. He served in the war of 1812, as Sergeant, and, in 1817, came to Brown County, and located near Sardinia, where he purchased fifty acres. He was a tanner by trade, and erected a tanning establishment, which he operated for about twenty years, then retired to farming, which he pursued till his death, January 9, 1871. Matthew Kincaid's first wife wife Rebekah Curtis died in August, 1838.
