The South Carolina Historical Society has included this sheet along with the 1806 inventory of Zachariah Martin. The inventory states nothing about Matthew Martin, Jr. and shows no family relationships. When offered proof of Matthew Martin, Jr.'s relationship to his "real" father, Matthew Martin, Sr. , the staff at SCHS stated that the incorrect handwritten document could not be removed, nor could a correct proof document be filed with the Martin-Boyd papers. It would have to be submitted for a separate Martin family file. Beware of this erroneous document, as well as poorly researched trees at Ancestry.com which shows Zachariah Martin as the father of Matthew L.
