Mrs. Gibson was born Sept. 29, 1893, at Lebanon, Va., the daughter of William E. and Mary A. Dougherty Jessee. Gibson Topeka Capitol July 16, 1985 Mrs. Mattie A. Gibson, 91, Osage City, died Monday, July 15, at an Osage City nursing home. Mrs. Gibson was born Sept. 29, 1893, at Lebanon, Va., the daughter of William E. and Mary A. Dougherty Jessee. She spent most of her life atthe Worden community in Douglas County before she moved to Osage City about 25 years ago. She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Osage City, where she was a member of United Methodist Women and the Love Sunday school class. She was married to Homer O. Gibson Feb 25, 1915 at Ottawa. He died March 29, 1967. A son, Ralph Gibson, preceded her in death Feb. 22, 1921. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Marcelline Ritz, Osage City; two brothers, Silas Jessee, Long Beach, Calif., and George Jessee, Anaheim, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Warner, Independence, Mo., Mrs. Mary Roberts, Long Beach, Calif, and Mrs. Virginia Fletcher, Seal Beach, Calif.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Osage City United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Worden Cemetery at Worden. Mrs. Gibson will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Crable Funeral Chapel, Osage City, then from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made at the church.
