She had been in the hospital previously due to a light stroke and hardening of the arteries. She then spent a short time in the Lennox Good Samaritan Home and was returned to the hospital May 15. Her age at death was 80 years and 19 days. Mrs. Schoulte was born Auguste Martha Isabella, the daughter of John Faber and his wife, Isabelle Hulverson, June 8, 1886, at Clayton County, Iowa. She was baptized at National, Iowa. She lived with her parents on a farm near St. Olaf, Iowa, then moved with them to a homestead at Vivian, S. D. She was married to Frank Schoulte October 9, 1907, in Iowa. One daughter was born to them, who died at the age of six weeks. Later they adopted a daughter, Veryl, who survives her parents. In March of 1911 the Schoultes moved to the Canistota community, farming southeast of the city. After her husband died in 1938, Mrs. Schoulte continued to make her home on the farm, renting out the land. She lived there until her last illness. She is survived by Mrs. Vernon (Veryl) Merrigan, Aurora, Colo.; nephews and other relatives and friends. All other near relatives preceded her in death. Funeral services were conducted in the Zion Lutheran Church at Canisota, June 30, where she had been a member for the past ten years. Rev. P. R. Albrecht was in charge of the service. Walther Johannsen sang, accompanied by Mrs. P. R. Albrecht. The body was then taken to Monona, Iowa, where a devotion was held in the evening in the Schultz Funeral Home. Committal service was held the following day in the family lot in the Garnavillo Catholic Cemetery beside her husband, Frank Schoulte. Pallbearers at the cemetery were nephews, Francis Schoulte, Lloyd Schoulte, Serenus Egelseder, Francis Egelseder, Curtis Engelhardt, Allan Engelhardt. Father L. C.
