She was the widow of Miles Lee Baker. She was 100. Born in Cross Roads community in Easley, Mrs. Baker was a daughter of the late Samuel Benjamin and Hattie Robinson Looper. She was a homemaker and was a life-long and oldest member of Cross Roads Baptist Church. She served as W.M.U. director for 26 years and was a teacher of the Mother's Sunday school class. She was the widow of Miles Lee Baker. She was 100. Born in Cross Roads community in Easley, Mrs. Baker was a daughter of the late Samuel Benjamin and Hattie Robinson Looper. She was a homemaker and was a life-long and oldest member of Cross Roads Baptist Church. She served as W.M.U. director for 26 years and was a teacher of the Mother's Sunday school class. Surviving are three sons, James Baker, Harry Baker and Roy Baker, all of Easley; three daughters, Frances B. Dickard, of Pickens, Ruth B. Davis, of Greenville, and Barbara B. Hawkins, of Marietta; one sister, Alma L. Rich, of Berea; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Baker was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Loretta M. Baker; three sisters, Grace L. Reeder, Florine Baker and Janette Looper; two brothers, George P. Looper and Nay Looper; and a granddaughter, Sherri Michelle Davis. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2003, at Cross Roads Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Tom Jones, the Rev. Richard Spearman and the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Batson. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Escort of honor will be the Care and Share Group of Cross Roads Baptist Church. The body is at Robinson Funeral Home, Downtown, where the family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m., and will be placed in the church Saturday at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cross Roads Baptist Church Building Fund, 160 Cross Roads Church Road, Easley, SC 29640.
