Stoner, 80, a well known former resident of Gentry, died at the St. Anthony hospital in Rock Island, Ill., February 4. She had been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. W. E. Clark of Rock Island for the past several months. She had been afflicted with a heart ailment for some time and on Feb. 1 suffered a stroke from which she did not regain consciousness. Mrs. Stoner was an active and lifelong member of the United Brethren church and was also active in the W. C. T. U. and other civic and religious organizations. Mr. and Mrs. Stoner first came to Gentry in 1911, buying a farm north west of town. Mrs. Stoner and her mother, Mrs. O. D. Crone, ran the farm, and Mr. Stoner continues his work as a postal clerk in Nebraska until he retired and came to Gentry in 1920. Later they came to town and operated a hotel a short time and then lived on an acreage near tow until 1934 when Mr. Stoner died. Mrs. Stoner lived in Gentry until October 1942, when illness forced her to live with her children. They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in Lincoln in 1932, with their unbroken family and many friends in attendance. Besides Mrs. Clark, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. J. C.. Jefferson of Fairborn, Nebr.; one son, Oscar E. Stoner of Tulsa, Okla.; and by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held in Rock Island Monday, Feb. 7. The body was then taken to Lincoln, Nebr., where the casket was opened for an hour, and final service followed in the Christian church at Unadilla, Nebr., conducted by the Rev. O. L. Covault, pastor of the United Brethren church of Lincoln. Burial was in the Unadilla cemetery beside her husband and parents. -------------------------
