Her husband Abbs Obituary; Abb Sweat, 66, who was reared near Middlesboro and who came to Anderson County to work with loggers near Briceville and later with the state highway department, died at Lake City Hospital Sunday night. He had been recently retired. Sweat was a member of the Laurel Grove Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife; Mrs Mattie Patterson Sweat; step daughters, Mrs Marie Phillips, Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs Ella Mae Sutton of Duff, and Mrs Blanche Seiber of Oliver Springs Rt 2; half brother, Charles Pierce of LaFollette; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. The Rev Verlin Phillips and the Rev B Ray Phillips officiated at the services Wednesday morning at Laurel Grove Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. ------------------------- Wednesday, July 23, 1997 Mattie Patterson Sweat Lake City resident Mattie Patterson Sweat, 97, of Lake City, died Tuesday, July 22, 1997, at Beech Manor Nursing Home in Jellico. Mrs. Sweat is survived by two daughters, Blanche Seeber of Lake City and Ella Mae Sutton of Duff; and by two sisters, Oma Phillips of Oliver Springs and Elsie Huckaby of Clinton. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, at Guiding Star Baptist Church in Lake City with the Rev. Jack Taylor and the Rev. Johnny Randolph officiating. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City. Obit provided by Jane Lane (#46908160)
