Description	:	Mattie Ruth (Blanton) O'Shields, age 88, of Clinton, SC, died Friday, March 16, 2012 at the Hospice House of Laurens County in Clinton. She was born in Cherokee County, SC, and was the daughter of the late Madison Craig Blanton and Mamie (Byars) Blanton. A 1940 graduate of Pauline High School in Pauline, SC, she was a retired weaver from Clinton Mills, worked at Jacobs Press in Clinton, and was a Blue Lady at Presbyterian College. Read More	Mattie Ruth (Blanton) O'Shields, age 88, of Clinton, SC, died Friday, March 16, 2012 at the Hospice House of Laurens County in Clinton. She was born in Cherokee County, SC, and was the daughter of the late Madison Craig Blanton and Mamie (Byars) Blanton. A 1940 graduate of Pauline High School in Pauline, SC, she was a retired weaver from Clinton Mills, worked at Jacobs Press in Clinton, and was a Blue Lady at Presbyterian College. She was a faithful member of Davidson Street Baptist Church, sang alto in the church choir and served as a G.A. Leader. She was a proud member of the Doris Hellams' Sunday School Class. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, David Craig O'Shields and Terri of Clinton and two grandchildren, Katie and Maggie O'Shields. Mrs. O'Shields was predeceased by her husband, David Herbert O'Shields; daughter, Deborah Lynn O'Shields; five sisters, Leatha Wallace, Lois Turner, Catherine Blanton, Eunice Corbin and Dorothy McSwain; and a brother, Dean Blanton. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 18, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Davidson Street Baptist Church with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg. The family received friends prior to the service Sunday, 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the Church. Memorials could be made to Davidson Street Church, Davidson St., Clinton, SC 29325.
