Mrs. Edwards passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, at St. Anthony's Regional Hospital in Carroll. Mrs. Edwards passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, at St. Anthony's Regional Hospital in Carroll. Visitation was at the United Church of Christ in Lake View on Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. Honorary pallbearer was Lewis Eichhorn. Acting pallbearers were Larry Massey, Harold Brownlee, Grover Davis, William Eichhorn and Paul Simon. Interment was made in the Greenwood Cemetery in Cumberland, Ia., under the direction of the Kessler Funeral Home of Audubon. Maud M. Edwards, the daughter of William and Ida Drake Lucas, was born Sept. 2, 1896, in Cumberland. She was baptized at the First Christian Church in Cumberland and attended school there, graduating from Cumberland High School. She then taught country school for several years. She was united in marriage to Paul Patrick Edwards in Cumberland on June 25, 1919. They farmed for several years in Cass County, Ia., and then moved to Atlantic, where Pat served as deputy sheriff until becoming sheriff in 1934. After Pat had served several terms as sheriff, the family moved to Des Moines, where they resided for 15 years. They retired in 1963 and moved to Lake View. After Pat died in 1967, Maud maintained her own home until she became a resident of Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake. She had resided there for the past 4-1/2 years. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Lake View and of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were her daughter, Imogene Spriggs; her parents; a sister, Lucile Sampson; and a brother, Oscar Lucas.
