This is an interment of ashes.∼Maude L. Forrest (1905-2010) DENISON - Maude L. Forrest, 105-year-old Denison resident, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Texoma Specialty Care. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 24 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Sherman with Rev. Martin Yost, rector, officiating. Burial will be held at Friends Cemetery in Woodstown, N.J. Mrs. Forrest was born on March 30, 1905 in Penns Grove, N.J., daughter of Omar B. and Mary M. Morrison Lippincott. The fifth of seven children, she attended school until the eighth grade in Penns Grove, N.J., when she went to work to help support her family. She was also in Girl Scouts, where she served as the bugler. She worked as a commercial artist and jewelry maker until she married Fred L. Forrest on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, 1926. After marriage to Forrest in Collinswood, N.J., she became a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, dancing, collecting antiques and was an accomplished seamstress. She served as president of the PTA for many years and was a member of the Eastern Star and D.A.R. She was an avid fan of the "Antique Road Show", was always active with the Altar Guild in the churches she attended, and was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Sherman. Mrs. Forrest's husband worked with DuPont, where he was part of the "Manhattan Project" that developed atomic energy. After his retirement, the couple traveled for 31 years throughout the United States and Mexico and were known as "snow birds." The couple enjoyed gardening, fishing and dancing. After her husband's death in 1990, Mrs. Forrest moved to Denison and lived with her son, the Rev. William F. Forrest, retired pastor of St. John's Episcopal Church of Pottsboro. In addition to her son, Mrs. Forrest has two granddaughters, Mary Caroline of Dallas and Katherine E. Forrest of Ft. Worth. Johnson-Moore Funeral Home has charge of local arrangements.
