Her parents died when she was very young and she was raised in an orphanage. She married Claude Huisman and together they had 7 children. He passed away on April 30, 1976. She married Kenneth Garrison on May 6, 1978 in Tekamah, Nebraska and together they had 1 child. They lived in Dodge, Nebraska until moving to Fremont, Nebraska in the mid 90's. Maureen was a nurse's aide and worked for the Fremont Care Center, Scribner, NE Good Samaritan Center, Parkview Nursing Home in Dodge and Birchwood Manor in North Bend, NE. Maureen C. Garrison age 81, of Fremont, Nebraska, died June 1, 2021 at home surrounded by family. Left to cherish her memory are children: Larry (Cindy) Huisman of Fremont, Robert (LeAnn) Huisman of Fremont, Jim Huisman of Palm Springs, CA, Robin (Stan) Motacek of Grand Island, NE, Keith Huisman of Council Bluffs, IA, Tim (Tonia) Huisman of Dorr, MI, John (Julie) Huisman of Council Bluffs, Lynn (Jeremiah) Brown of Fremont; sisters - Grace Rustan of Byron, MN, Kathryn Gumbrecht of Yorba Linda, CA.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Maureen was preceded in death by her sisters Joyce, (Twin) Colleen, Barbara, Connie and an infant sister. The funeral will be Saturday, 10am, June 5, 2021 at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Burial will follow in the Bohemian National Cemetery in Dodge. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8pm with the family present from 6-8pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont.
