He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for two years. He married Mary Beenken on August 3, 1954, in Reinbeck, Iowa. Maurell worked at Rath Packing for 34 years. He then worked for and retired from the Lincoln Co-op. Maurell was bold in his faith and not afraid to share it with others. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grundy Center. Some of Maurell's favorites include fishing, his faith, fishing, spending time with his family, and fishing. Maurell was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings. Survivors include his wife Mary; two daughters, Laurie and her husband Danny Szadga of Omaha, Nebraska, and Janie and her husband David Strickler of Grundy Center, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
