Description	:	Maurice Chester Redman, Jr., age 74, the son of Maurice Chester and Elizabeth Ethel (McMorris), was born January 29, 1947, in Leon, Iowa. He died at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. Chet, as he was known, grew up in Leon, Iowa and graduated from Leon High School in 1965. Read More	Maurice Chester Redman, Jr., age 74, the son of Maurice Chester and Elizabeth Ethel (McMorris), was born January 29, 1947, in Leon, Iowa. He died at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. Chet, as he was known, grew up in Leon, Iowa and graduated from Leon High School in 1965. Summers during his college years he worked road construction. He earned his college degree from Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville, Missouri in 1970. He returned to Leon and began work as a teller at the Decatur County State Bank. Over the years while Chet worked up to become a loan officer and retired as Vice President, Compliance Officer the bank name changed to Citizens Bank and then to Great Western Bank. Chet was married to Rowena Williams for a few years. He was a lifelong member of the Leon Brethren Church. Over the years Chet was an active member of the Leon Lions, Leon Rotary, the Decatur County Historical Society, the Decatur County Tourism Council, South Central Iowa Development Corporation, South Central Iowa Theater, CD Booster Club, Leon Chamber of Commerce, Leon Rodeo Committee, Central Decatur Community School, and the American Heart Association. At the time of his death he was sitting on the boards of Parkview Low Rent Housing, the Central Decatur School Foundation, and Home-Instead Elderly Housing. He gave of his time freely to others and was a member of the CD Chain Gang for high school football games for years. He also sang in the Leon Community Choir and in several men's quartets over the years. Preceding him in death were his parents; and brother, Kenny Redman. Survivors include his niece, Amy Peca and husband, Joe and their sons, Joseph and Isaac Peca, all of Cadiz, Kentucky; nephew, Ryan Redman and wife, Maria of Arlington, Virginia; sister-in-law, Donna Redman of Frankford, Delaware; uncle, Don Redman of Leon, Iowa; many cousins; and other relatives and many, many friends.
