Description	:	Maurice J. “Mike” Oestreich, 80, of Clinton, passed away Monday, June 17, 2013, surrounded by his family at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport. Private family services will be Wednesday, June 19, at Clinton Church of Christ. The Clinton Chapel-Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Maurice Jerry Oestreich was born Dec. 27, 1932, in Portage, Wis., a son of Jerry William and Flora Bell (Brownell) Oestreich. He attended school in Sextonville and Oshkosh, Wis. He served in the United States Army, 1950-1953, in Treste, Italy. On Aug. 30, 1954, he married Shirley A. Hartley in Cedar Rapids. He moved to Clinton from Richland Center, Wis., in 1955. He was a brick mason by trade and worked for local contractors and Clinton Corn Processing. He also worked at the Clinton YMCA and PFC until retiring in 2012. He was a loving husband and devoted father. He enjoyed camping with family and friends. He also enjoyed yard work and tending to his flowers and garden. He was a member of Clinton Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Clinton; sons, Michael (Cindy), John (Connie), of Clinton, and Mark (Julie) of Bettendorf; two daughters, Debra (Marty Miller), and Beth (Tom Spalding) of Clinton; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Dave (Avis) Schultz of Waukesha, Wis. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, one brother-in-law, a son-in-law, Richard McHenry, and one grandson. Memorials can be made to American Cancer Society.
