Description	:	Maurine B. Dickerson Reier, 98, of Kearney died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at Good Samaritan Hospital. Maurine was born March 24, 1913, near Litchfield to John and Blanche Dickerson. In 1933, she married Charles Reier of Sumner. He preceded her in death. Survivors include her children, Dick and his wife, Farrell, of Cozad, Nancy Bowie and her husband, Bill, of Delavan, Wis., Bob and his wife, Dotty, of Lincoln, Jerry and his wife, Vicky, of Arvada, Colo., and Joyce Anderson and her husband, Dennis, of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Peggy Reier of Broken Bow; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Her... Read More	Maurine B. Dickerson Reier, 98, of Kearney died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at Good Samaritan Hospital. Maurine was born March 24, 1913, near Litchfield to John and Blanche Dickerson. In 1933, she married Charles Reier of Sumner. He preceded her in death. Survivors include her children, Dick and his wife, Farrell, of Cozad, Nancy Bowie and her husband, Bill, of Delavan, Wis., Bob and his wife, Dotty, of Lincoln, Jerry and his wife, Vicky, of Arvada, Colo., and Joyce Anderson and her husband, Dennis, of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Peggy Reier of Broken Bow; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Her family moved to Mason City. Then, when Maurine was 9, they moved to a farm near Eddyville. She attended country school and graduated from Sumner High School in 1931. Charles and Maurine raised their family on a farm northeast of Sumner before moving into town in 1956. In 1966, she moved to Denver where she resided until 2005 when she moved into WelLife in Kearney. Maurine worked in the school lunch program until she moved to Denver in 1966. She first worked at Metropolitan State College before working for the Federal Reserve Bank. She retired in 1977 with special recognition from the bank's president. Retirement didn't include a rocking chair. To celebrate her 83rd birthday, she went rappelling in the Tucson mountains and made TV news again the following year by sky diving. In 1998, she was a contestant in the MS Senior Colorado contest and entertained the crowd with a comedy routine on her violin. She spent the next several years in a group that traveled in the Denver area entertaining at various organizations and retirement homes. In 2005, she moved to Kearney and resided at WelLife where she received excellent care by a staff that treated her with love and respect. Maurine's priorities were family and friends. She was always willing to lend a hand, open her home and bring laughter into others' lives. She was talented (and self-taught) on the violin, accordion, piano and organ and gifted in painting, writing poetry and crocheting. For many years, people enjoyed her homemade Christmas cards and raised doughnuts. Her family will greatly miss this beautiful lady. However, we will celebrate her life and her joyous reunion with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and her loved ones, waiting and welcoming her with open arms. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kay; son, John; granddaughter, Tonia; and grandson, Joel. Burial was in the Sumner Cemetery, Sumner, NE.
