Read More	Max McDonald HICKSVILLE Former Hicksville village councilman and business owner Max D. McDonald, 77, Hicksville, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, in his home. He was born Jan. 1, 1929, in Hicksville, the son of Orla and Della Mae (Kisabeth) McDonald. In 1951, he married Carole Durre, who survives. In 1947, he graduated from Hicksville High School, and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was the owner of McDonalds Hardware & Appliance in Hicksville from 1964-1984, and was a milkman with Defiance Dairy. He was a Hicksville village councilman for 24 years, a Hicksville Park Board chairman for 12 years and a volunteer fireman. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Hicksville, serving on the finance committee; a life member of Defiance VFW Post 3360 and past Hicksville VFW commander. He was a former member and president of the Hicksville Rotary Club and was Rotary Citizen of the Year in 1990. Also surviving are a daughter Cindy (Dave) Wonderly, Hicksville; a son, Keith (Judy), Hicksville; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were three sisters, Lois Guiff, Nina Baxter and Betty Wonderly; and a brother, Lester. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. John Lutheran Church, Hicksville, with Rev. Daniel Fugate officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville, with military honors accorded by Defiance VFW Post 3360. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Sunday at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Preferred memorials are to Hicksville Relay for Life, Huber Opera House or the church. Married Carole J.
