Max Eugene Miller was born March 27, 1930, the son of Perry and Helen Miller in Brooklyn, IA. He spent his early schooling in country school, Newburg and Grinnell schools. He graduated in 1948 from Beaman High School. He played both baseball and basketball while in school. Max grew up on a farm and loved being outdoors. On August 21, 1949, he was united in marriage to Barbara Thomas at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. They were blessed with 5 children, Alan, Randy, Scott, Sandra, and Kevin. Max loved to talk and brag about all his children and what they were doing. Max was a truck driver and also purchased a Big A lime hauler and spreader. In 1990, they moved to Marshalltown, and sold his business and drove trucks for Marshall County. Later he drove a school bus for the Marshalltown Community School District until health problems forced him to retire. Max still loved to discuss trucks, farming and everything that happened on the school bus. Max learned to dance and enjoyed it so much that he wanted to travel everywhere to dance. He also loved camping at Shady Hills for 20 years where they made many great friends. Max enjoyed having coffee drinkers in his screen-house. He enjoyed traveling and riding around the county. Max and Barb were blessed to be able to go on 2 Caribbean cruises and for their 50th Anniversary, they went on a 7 country European trip. The Chapel at Precious Moments was one of his favorite places. Max was a member of New Hope Christian Church. Max loved his family and enjoyed being with them and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Spending time with his family, friends and his buddy, Scooter was very special to him. He never knew a stranger and made many friends that way. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, 2 sisters, Marilyn, Joan, granddaughter, 4 brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
