He was born to Raymond and Violet (Wheeldon) Green Wednesday, January 25, 1936, residing in the Monon area all his life. His love affair beyond... Read More	Max Levon Green, 76, of Monon, died at 10:33 p.m., Friday, June 1, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Central Hospital. He was born to Raymond and Violet (Wheeldon) Green Wednesday, January 25, 1936, residing in the Monon area all his life. Max was a 1954 graduate of the Monon High School and served Honorably in the U.S. Army from June 28, 1955, to January 12, 1957. He married Saundra Heiny on February 15, 1959, at the Buffalo Christian Church; she survives. He had worked at NIPSCO for 24 years and retired from the State of Indiana in 2002. His love affair beyond his family and friends was singing. Max directed and sang with the Tippecanotes Barbershop group in Lafayette for 40 years, leading them to their only District Championship in 1971. One of the proudest moments of his singing career was being invited to sing with The Hartsmen Barbershop group in Michigan City for 25 years. The Hartsmen performed, competed and recorded throughout the Midwest, in addition to a 1994 tour in Europe. His singing also included Monon United Methodist Church choir, where he was a member, and hundreds of special events: highlighted by an invitation from the Purdue Women's Basketball program. He was a Tippecanoe County Cancer Survivor of the year. Max approached his ten-year battle with cancer with an infectious personality and positive attitude. He loved attending Purdue Women's Basketball games with his wife and friends and relished every chance to see his children and grandchildren perform in school activities and sporting events. Max loved to fish and ride his scooter. Max always had a smile on his face, a hug to give and a song in his heart. Surviving along with his wife are three daughters, Joy E. and Steve Cosgray, of Buffalo, Julie and Mike Reis, of San Antonio, Texas, and A. Elaine and Scott Krintz, of Buffalo; a son, Brian Green and fiancee, Lori Miller, , of Lafayette; two nephews; and eight grandchildren. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello and 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at the Monon United Methodist Church, 501 N. Market St, Monon, Indiana 47959. Full Military Rites will be conducted at the Monon Chapel Cemetery by the Honor Guard of the American Legion, AmVets and VFW. Memorials may be given to the St. Elizabeth Hospice Program, the Monon EMT or Monon United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and at the church. The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, at the Monon United Methodist Church, Russ Alley presiding. Burial will take place at the Monon Chapel Cemetery.
