Description	:	Max Smith was born in Germany, the illegitimate son of Minnie Smith. She later married Herman Kraus. Max is buried near the Kraus headstone in the Argusville Cemetery, Cass Co., ND but has no headstone of his own. He was born 14 Sep 1880 and immigrated to the USA, and became a naturalized citizen. Brase, died in 1943, he was 66 yrs. old when she took her own life after... Read More	Max Smith was born in Germany, the illegitimate son of Minnie Smith. She later married Herman Kraus. Max is buried near the Kraus headstone in the Argusville Cemetery, Cass Co., ND but has no headstone of his own. He was born 14 Sep 1880 and immigrated to the USA, and became a naturalized citizen. He farmed in the Argusville area until his retirement in 1943. Family members say Max drank a bit too much, being upset when his wife Laura M. Brase, died in 1943, he was 66 yrs. old when she took her own life after a cancer diagnosis when she was age 59. His address was the Dixon Hotel in Fargo at the time of his death. Max died 15 Dec 1951 at a Fargo Hospital. He was 32 and Laura age 25 when they married on 10 Mar 1909 in Gardner, Cass Co. ND at Lauras parents home. A Methodist Pastor performed the ceremony. Max was predeceased by his mother, and wife.
