Griffey, age 79 of Farragut, IA passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah, IA. Max William Griffey was born on April 18, 1939 in Shenandoah, IA; the son of William Oliver “Bud” and Minnie Elizabeth Catherine (Michel) Griffey. He attended school in Farragut, IA and graduated from the Farragut High School in 1957. In 1961 he entered the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He served in El Paso, TX and was honorably discharged in 1963. On July 23, 1961, Max was united in marriage to Harriett Norene Parkison in Riverton, IA and to this union two daughters were born: Ronda and Rebecca “Becky”. Max was a life-long farmer. In his younger years he also did trucking with his father-in-law, Kenny Parkison. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Northboro, IA and also the American Legion Post #88 in Shenandoah, IA. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Harriett Griffey; daughters: Ronda Priebe and husband Jim of Indianola, IA and Becky Clevenger and husband Eric of Kansas City, MO; three grandchildren: Raymond “RJ” Priebe, Jorden Priebe Cole and husband Adam, and Kristen Clevenger; one great-granddaughter Eleonora Priebe Cole; brother-in-law Marlan Tiemann of Westboro, MO and sister-in-law Peg Griffey of Lenexa, KS; other family and friends. Max was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marie Tiemann, and brother Harold Griffey.
