Description	:	Maxine E. Rimmer was born April 7, 1918, near Remsen, Iowa, to Matthew Yates "Mike" and Pearl Mae (Summers) Rimmer. She was raised on a farm in the Grand Meadow area in Cherokee County and graduated from Grand Meadow High School with the Class of 1935. Maxine married Ralph Meister April 11, 1936, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Kingsley, Iowa. She was raised on a farm in the Grand Meadow area in Cherokee County and graduated from Grand Meadow High School with the Class of 1935. Maxine married Ralph Meister April 11, 1936, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Kingsley, Iowa. To their union four sons were born: Jerry Alan, Kenneth Melvin, Mark Wendell, and Daniel Ray. Maxine and Ralph farmed in the Grand Meadow area south of Remsen, Iowa, and in 1959 moved to a farm north of Correctionville, Iowa. In 1980 they retired and moved to LeMars. While living in LeMars, Maxine served as a Deacon of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ, was a founding member of the Elderly Peer Group in Le Mars and volunteered at Brentwood Good Samaritan Society for several years. Maxine always enjoyed the special time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed square dancing, polka dancing, reading, and traveling with her family. After celebrating their 50th reunion in 1985, she and surviving members of the Class of 1935 met for lunch every month for many years. Maxine passed away Monday morning, January 3, 2011, at the Plymouth Manor Care Center, LeMars, at the age of 92. A prayer service was held at Carlsen Funeral Home in LeMars on Thursday evening, January 6, and funeral services were held at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in LeMars on Friday morning, January 7, with Rev. Jan Christensen officiating. Active pallbearers included grandsons Randy Meister, Brian Meister, Jim Meister, Darren Meister, grandsons-in-law, Tim Kohn, Shannon Fitch, Ryan Reinking and great grandson Wyatt Fitch. Honorary casket bearers were her granddaughters, Jana Meister, Danica Meister, Angie Meister, Suzanne Meiners, Holly Kohn, Heather Fitch, and Heidi Reinking. Survivors include her four sons and daughters-in-law: Jerry and Phyllis, Kenneth and Betty, Mark and Joan, and Dan and Pat; nine grandchildren: Randy (Judy), Brian (Sharon) Meister, Jim (Amy) Meister, Angela Meister, Suzanne Meiners, Darren (Steph) Meister, Holly (Tim) Kohn, Heather (Shannon) Fitch, Heidi (Ryan) Reinking; 13 great grandchildren: Jana and Danica Meister, Carol Meister, Abigail, and Austin Meister, Ashley Meiners, Allison and Katelyn Meister, Emma Kohn, Mackenzie, Bailey, Wyatt, and Kendall Fitch; a brother, Kenneth (Hope) Rimmer; a brother-in-law, Arlo Grubb; three sisters-in-law, Lorraine Robinson, Sylvia Beelner, and Maroldine Grabe; several nieces and nephews and a host of special friends. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ralph on November 25, 2000; two grandchildren, Scott Alan Meister and Rachelle Renee Meister; three sisters, Lucille Riemenschneider, Audrey Grubb, and LaDona Grabe, and two brothers-in-law, Arvin Grubb and Arthur Grabe.
