Maxine Faye Thompson Doherty was born November 3, 1928 to Robert and Faye Thompson of Issaquah, Washington. Max as she was known by her friends was the youngest of five children. Maxine Faye Thompson Doherty was born November 3, 1928 to Robert and Faye Thompson of Issaquah, Washington. Max as she was known by her friends was the youngest of five children. A life long Issaquah resident, she grew up running and playing on the hills surrounding her family farm, which is now Sycamore. Maxine graduated from Issaquah High School in 1946 The next year she married her husband of 30 years Roy Charles Doherty, also of Issaquah. In 1948 Maxine and Roy welcomed their first child, Jeanne; followed by Dennis in 1953 and John in 1960. Over the years, Maxine was an active member of the Issaquah social circle. From Fire Department picnics to neighborhood get together’s, Max never met a stranger. Everyone was always welcome and met with open arms and a cold beverage. In the 1950’s Maxine was a bartender at the Union Tavern in Issaquah Washington. In the years after she worked for Weyerhaeuser Industries where she was the only female Jitney driver. Over her 26 years at Weyerhaeuser, Maxine worked in lumber sales and shipping. Proudly shipping Weyerhaeuser lumber, out of the Snoqualmie mill, all over the world. In 1991, Maxine retired from Weyerhaeuser. In retirement she enjoyed traveling with family, including spending months in Hawaii. She loved watching her many grandchildren grow up and was extremely proud of having five generations in her family. Maxine loved watching sports. Everything from the Mariners to the Seahawks. She was even known to stop Mariner’s players she ran into at QFC and provided the player with tips to improve his play. Over her 85 years on earth, Maxine did and saw everything she wanted. She lived a good life, as she always said. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and husband Roy Doherty. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne (Ken) Dods of Snoqualmie, Washington. Her son Dennis (Alidene) Doherty of Issaquah, Washington and Son John (Debbie) Doherty of Lacey, Washington. She is also survived by her 6 Granddaughters, 9 Great-Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren.
