Description	:	Maxine Georgia Albers, 82, of Minden died Friday, May 11, 2007, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Services were held Wednesday at Minden United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Bill Hunter officiating. She was born May 9, 1925, west of Norman to George and Edna (Ofield) Smith. On Feb. 15, 1947, she married Howard Albers in Norton, KS. He died March 22, 2006. Dr. Bill Hunter officiating. She was born May 9, 1925, west of Norman to George and Edna (Ofield) Smith. On Feb. 15, 1947, she married Howard Albers in Norton, KS. He died March 22, 2006. Survivors include her sons, John and James, both of Minden; daughters, Jane Kuehn of Heartwell and Karen Koch of Upland; brother, LeRoy Smith of Minden; and sisters, Elaine Guilkey of Superior and Esther Anderson of Shickley. Additional survivors include her daughters-in-law, Jane Albers and Shauna Albers, both of Minden; sons-in-law, Jim Kuehn of Heartwell and Grady Koch of Upland; grandchildren, Laurie Dunn and her husband, Brian, John Albers and his friend, Barb, Jim M. Kuehn and his wife, Lenetta, Abi Curtis and her husband, Josh, Rachel Kuehn, Brit Koch and his fiancé, Michelle, Blaine Koch, Amber Miller and her husband, Bryan, Michael Albers, Amber Raymond, and Amanda and Adrienne Albers; great-granddaughter, Jalen Kuehn; sisters-in-law, Rita Smith and Marie Christensen, both of Minden, and Sharon Smith of Norman; brothers-in-law, John Guilkey of Superior and Gaylen Hansen of Minden; and a host of friends and other relatives. She was baptized at the Methodist Church in Norman and was a life-long member of the church. She attended Norman School District 64 for kindergarten through 12th grade and graduated with the last class to graduate from Norman High School in 1943. After graduation in May, she attended Kearney State Normal School (Kearney State College) for one summer and taught school in the fall. She taught country school at Osco and District 25. She met her husband when she drove by his family farm on her way to teach school at District 25. They lived with his parents, John and Clara Albers, for a short time, then moved to the Bill Schaper place. It was their home for nearly 50 years. She always enjoyed being out in the field helping drive truck during harvest or bringing meals to the field. She enjoyed life by sharing her time with others. She worked at Long Term Care as an activity director for many years. She taught Sunday school, was a 4-H leader, and volunteered at the Closet and at church. She was always willing to share her gift of music by playing the piano at Long Term Care, Sunday school and Bible school. She loved to play Chinese checkers and was hard to beat at this game. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Blake Koch; brothers, Harold and Eddie; and sisters, Doris, Stella, Dorothy and Jeanette.
