Maxine, daughter of George Oscar "Oscar" and Ethel Mae "Mae" (Wolfert) Mills, was born June 26, 1917, at Tilden, Nebraska. Maxine attended the Tilden (NE.) School, graduating with the Class of 1935, and later earned her Bachelor's Degree from Wayne (NE.) State College. On August 7, 1945, Maxine was married to Clifford Eickhoff. Maxine, daughter of George Oscar "Oscar" and Ethel Mae "Mae" (Wolfert) Mills, was born June 26, 1917, at Tilden, Nebraska. Maxine attended the Tilden (NE.) School, graduating with the Class of 1935, and later earned her Bachelor's Degree from Wayne (NE.) State College. On August 7, 1945, Maxine was married to Clifford Eickhoff. They were the parents of three sons: Greg, Philip, and Dean. Maxine and Clifford farmed southwest of Tilden, Nebraska until 1972, when they moved into town. Maxine's teaching career of 35 years began with a rural school following high school, then schools at Silver Creek, O'Neill, Norfolk, Fremont, Neligh, and finally Elkhorn Valley in Tilden, Nebraska. She was also an American Red Cross Hospital Recreation Worker in Longview, Texas, during World War II. Maxine was a member of the Peace United Church of Christ, Tilden, Nebraska and it's women's fellowship group, was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, was a 50-plus year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, served 27 years on the Tilden Library Board and worked with its Book Discussion Groups, and was a member of numerous bridge clubs. Maxine is survived by: sons, Greg (Rita) Eickhoff of Tilden, Nebraska, Philip Eickhoff of Chicago, Illinois, and Dean (Kathy) Eickhoff of Albion, Nebraska; grandchildren, Melissa, Kyle, Tim, Julia, Jeff, Andy, and Grace; 11 great-grandchildren, Riley, Tyler, Ellie, Evan, Reagan, Mia, Brady, Curtis, Kaleb, Corbin, Kendrick and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by: husband, Clifford "Cliff" Eickhoff in June of 1986; parents and sister, Ruth. Burial was in the Tilden City Cemetery, Tilden, Nebraska.
