She was born November 3, 1927 at Fremont, NE to Royal and Ruth (Sutton) Bechtel. She grew up at Fremont and attended Fremont High School. Maxine married Glen Fredenburg September 16, 1944. They later divorced and she married Ervin Hammond September 16, 1948. Ervin died January 1983 and Maxine remarried Glen Fredenburg August 31, 1985. Glen died January 10, 1994. Fredenburg, 83 years, of Fremont, NE died Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont. She was born November 3, 1927 at Fremont, NE to Royal and Ruth (Sutton) Bechtel. She grew up at Fremont and attended Fremont High School. Maxine married Glen Fredenburg September 16, 1944. They later divorced and she married Ervin Hammond September 16, 1948. Ervin died January 1983 and Maxine remarried Glen Fredenburg August 31, 1985. Glen died January 10, 1994. Maxine worked as a waitress at the Chuck Wagon Café for several years, retiring in 1969. She moved to Modesto, CA in 1985 and returned to Fremont in 1986. She was a member of the Ames Community Church, where she liked to sing solos, and she taught Sunday school for several years. She was a former member of the Four Square Church. Survivors include: Son – Ernest and wife Dorothy Fredenburg; daughters – Phyllis and husband Joe Lopez, Catherine and husband Doyle Acker, Roberta Trudell, Cheryl Hammond and Terri Nelsen, all of Fremont; step-sons – Jim and Cliff Hammond, of Fremont, Lyle and wife Mary Hammond of Mead, NE and Tom and wife Judy Hammond of Scottsdale, AZ; step-daughter – Mable Jean Combs of Ohio; brothers - Leonard and wife Esther Bechtel of Fremont, and Roland and wife Alice Bechtel of Moline, IL; and many grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: parents; 2 husbands; 2 brothers – Charles & Duane Bechtel; 2 sisters – Barbara League and Julie Trotter; an infant son; and 2 step-sons. Funeral will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 20, 2011 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. The Rev. Gundar Lamberts and the Rev. Cheryl Hammond will officiate. Visitation with family receiving friends will be Sunday 4-8 and Monday 9-2. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Ames Community Church Mission Fund.
