Description	:	Maxine Layton, 88, of Minden died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Bethany Home in Minden. Maxine was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Kearney County to Alfred and Hilma (Rundquist) Johnson. On Feb. 15, 1947, she married Duane Layton. He preceded her in death. Survivors are: her daughters, Wanda Ridnour and her husband, Bruce, of Omaha and Myra Johnson and her husband, Scott, of Minden; son, Ralph Layton and his wife, Linda, of Minden; grandchildren, Tessa Hermanson and her husband, Justin, of Aurora, Travis Layton of Lincoln and Faith Johnson of Kearney; and great-grandson, Evan Hermanson. Maxine was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Kearney County to Alfred and Hilma (Rundquist) Johnson. On Feb. 15, 1947, she married Duane Layton. He preceded her in death. Survivors are: her daughters, Wanda Ridnour and her husband, Bruce, of Omaha and Myra Johnson and her husband, Scott, of Minden; son, Ralph Layton and his wife, Linda, of Minden; grandchildren, Tessa Hermanson and her husband, Justin, of Aurora, Travis Layton of Lincoln and Faith Johnson of Kearney; and great-grandson, Evan Hermanson. She grew up in the Minden area and graduated from Minden High School in 1939. She and Duane made their home in Minden. Maxine was a member of Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden and Minden American Legion Auxiliary for 64 years. She was one of 12 original members of a birthday card club that started in 1948 and continued to play until present time. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, bingo and traveling. Most of all, she loved family gatherings and corresponding with her friends and relatives. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Virgil and Lyle Johnson.
