Description	:	Maxine Grotelueschen, 86, of Columbus, died Sunday, March 20, 2011, at the Golden Livingcenter in Columbus. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Christ Lutheran Church with Rev. Aaron Witt officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Maxine was born Feb. 11, 1925, in rural Platte Center, to Chris and Tetta (Johannes) Petersen. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Platte Center, and attended school at Zion Lutheran School, District 17, and graduated from Platte Center High School. On April 20, 1954, she married Eugene Grotelueschen at Grace Lutheran Church in Platte Center. Before her marriage, she worked at the Platte Center Bank and also NPPD in Columbus. Maxine and Eugene farmed south of Leigh and after retiring moved to Columbus in 1990. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and enjoyed attending ladies aid, sewing quilts, and doing family genealogy. Maxine is survived by her daughter, Gwen (Gene) Bedient, of Algiers, Algeria; daughter, Miriam (Gregg) Roth, of Columbus; son, Bryce (Tammy) Grotelueschen, of Leigh; son, Myron Grotelueschen, of Leigh; sister, Norma (Mel) Sample, of Quinlan, Texas; grandchildren, Delphine Bedient, Alicia and Kevin Roth, Kyle and Kaycee Grotelueschen, and Garrett and Lance Grotelueschen. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Tetta Petersen; husband, Eugene Grotelueschen; and infant brother, Werner Petersen.
