Read More	The Laurens Sun, Laurens, Iowa, Thursday, 06 Feb 1936, Page 1: Mrs. W. W. Ferguson --------- The funeral of Mrs. W. W. Ferguson was held at the church of Christ at 2:30 Thursday afternoon. The drifted roads made it very difficult to get from the home west of Mallard to the church in Laurens. The funeral procession was forced to go east to highway No. 17 and then on No. 10 through Havelock to Laurens. Rev. Knotts, the minister in charge was unable to get to the Ferguson home from the west and had to turn back and meet the funeral folks at the church. Rev, Knotts preached the sermon and music was furnished by the church choir with a song by G. H. Brallier and three sons. Burial was in the Laurens cemetery. May C. Cone, daughter of William and Elizabeth Cone, was born at Victor, Iowa, May 4th, 1870, and departed this life on January 29th, 1936, at the age of 65 years, 8 months and 24 days. When she was 11 years old, the family moved to Mapleton, Iowa, and in 1891, they came to Laurens. In 1905 she was united in marriage to Wells W. Ferguson and they spent their entire married life in this community. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, her only daughter, Mrs. Elmer Ducommun, two brothers, Alfred of Laurens, and Arthur of Glidden, also other relatives and a large circle of friends and neighbors. Mrs. Ferguson had been in ill health for a number of years and for some two or three months had been confined to her bed. She was tenderly cared for in the home of her daughter and after medical skill had exhausted all its resources she quietly passed away at five o'clock Tuesday morning. She had been ill for some time. Mrs. Ferguson was born in Poweshiek county county, 65 years ago. She resided at Mallard for forty years. Her death is mourned by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Elmer Ducommon of Mallard and two brothers, who reside at Glidden and Laurens. Funeral services will be held from the Christian church at Laurens this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:30. Sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved relatives.
