May was born October 9, 1930 at Harvard to Edmond and Edna (Peters) Hamburger. The family moved to the Scottsbluff/Gering where May received her education before graduating from Gering High School. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Clause on Oct. 2, 1953 at the First United Methodist Church in Gering. The couple made their home and raised their boys in Gering. May was a stay at home mom, later working at Taylor’s Furniture store as a bookkeeper for several years. After her retirement, May worked part-time as the bookkeeper for Taylor’s Warehouse Carpet.May was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Gering, the Women’s Circle at the church, the Dome Rock Rebecca Lodge, and the Red Hats Society. May was a family woman who greatly enjoyed Sunday and holiday dinners with her family; her favorite holiday was Christmas. She was an excellent cook, life-long learner, enjoyed shopping, reading, sewing, crafts, raising flowers, gardening, and calligraphy.May was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth in 1984, and two brothers Lawrence Hamburger and Andrew Hamburger.
