Description	:	May Parks was born in McHenry Co, Illinois, 23 May 1865, removed with her parents to Fredericksburg, Iowa in 1866. She was united in marriage to Mr. M. B. Russ on the 13th day of Feb. 1887, at Fredericksburg. Mr. Russ and his bride started the following day for Tipton, Michigan, where they remained for a short time, with the parents of Mr. Russ, when they removed to Mansfield, Ohio, where they settled down in a comfortable home, full of bright hopes and joyous anticipations. She was united in marriage to Mr. M. B. Russ on the 13th day of Feb. 1887, at Fredericksburg. Mr. Russ and his bride started the following day for Tipton, Michigan, where they remained for a short time, with the parents of Mr. Russ, when they removed to Mansfield, Ohio, where they settled down in a comfortable home, full of bright hopes and joyous anticipations. Alas, for their earthly plans and joys, in January of the present year, her father, Benj. B. Parks, received a telegram, summoning him to May's bed-side, which he reached a few hours before "her eyes spoke the silent good-bye", and, as her husband remarked to the writer, "she just went to sleep" - peacefully and quietly breathing her life away, on the 21st day of January 1888, at the age of 22 years, 7 months and 28 days. Her remains were brought to Fredericksburg, accompanied by her father and husband. Jan. 24th she was tenderly laid to rest beside the little brother and dear old "grandma" gone before. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. J. Little, at the M. E. Church, where notwithstanding the storm and extreme cold, a large concourse of people gathered from every direction to pay their last token of respect and love. The deceased leaves a stricken husband, a bright little boy six weeks old, father, mother, an aged grandfather, brothers, sisters, and a wide circle of loving relatives, friends, school-mates and pupils, to mourn her early death; the years may come, the years may go, but people of Fredericksburg and the whole community, will kindly cherish, and treasure the memory of May Parks Russ. May she rest in peace.
