Mrs. McHenry, a life resident of Wabash, was born here Aug. 18, 1859 to Henry and Emma (Brooks) Sayre, a pioneer family of the city. She was the widow of James E. McHenry who preceded here in death 34 years ago. Mr. McHenry was a prominent insurance man, a partner in the McHenry and Newhouse Insurance Company. He also was mayor of Wabash from 1894 to 1901. Mrs. McHenry was an active member of the Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the Symposium Club and of the former Sempre Item Club. When younger, she sang in the choir of the church for 40 years. Mrs. McHenry moved to the Peabody Home from her residence, 408 West Hill Street, where she had resided since she was six months old. Tentative plans for services include chapel services at the Peabody Home Monday morning and further services in the Jones Funeral Home, Wabash, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Dr. Ware W. Wimberly will officiate.
