Read More	Tipton county lost another of its splendid Christian women Monday when the body of Mrs. Mayme Funke, wife of Henry Funke was found on her bed by her husband, who had left her but a short time before and had been on the roof of his house east of Tipton making repairs. A doctor was called but life was extinct and death was attributed to a heart attack more severe than any of the several previous ones she had suffered in the past 18 months. The body was removed to the Young mortuary for preparation and was returned to the home Tuesday to lie in state until the hour of the funeral. Services will be held at the st. John's Catholic church, Thursday morning at 9 o'clock and burial will be in the St. John's cemetery. Monday Mr. and Mrs. Funke ate their noon day meal together and Mrs. Funke, who has not been in good health for several years, was feeling about as usual. Her husband stated he had a place to fix in the roof and after assisting the wife in clearing away the dishes went out doors and mounted the roof. His wife had stated she believed she would go to her bedroom and rest for a time. Mr. Funke had been out of the house but a short time when he returned and found the body. Mrs. Mayme Funke was born in Chicago, August 26, 1876, her parents being Michael and Barbara (Moran) Kain. Her mother died when she was nine months old and she was taken by her mother's sister, Mrs. Mary Mattingly, wife of J.B. Mattingly Sr. and was reared in the Mattingly home in this county. Her father remarried and at the age of 20 she returned to Chicago, where she was employed until her marriage to Henry Funke of Tipton in 1904 and they have since resided on their farm east of Tipton. About five years ago, Mrs. Funke's health began to fail. She suffered with diabetes and heart trouble during the past year spent a portion of her time at the Mercy hospital at Elwood under treatment. Only surviving relatives are the husband, several cousins and nieces and a half-sister in Chicago.
