Description	:	Maynard Manske, 57, funeral will be held Friday with burial in Prospect Hill cemetery. When he died not open his business on Monday morning the police were called to check upon his welfare. He was found at home in the car, in the garage and had died from carbon monoxide poisoning. His wife, her brother and sister-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Charles Woolsey of Elkhart, Indiana were in Colton, California for the burial of the two women's mother Mrs. Rose Arnold who had died Feb. 5 while visiting in Norfolk. The burial had taken place last week and Mrs. Manske was expected back shortly. Maynard Manske was born April 30, 1912 in Thurston county to Mr. and Mrs. August Manske. He came to Norfolk in 1918. He was survived by his wife, his mother Mrs. August Manske at Burbank, California; 1 brother Ivan A. at Norfolk, 1 sister Mrs. John F. {Sylvia} Sherrell at Burbank, California. He was preceded in death by his father in 1961. "During World War II he served in the Air Force and for a number of months was engineer-gunner on a bomber based in Italy. His heavy bombardment group had the distinction of having gone on more missions in one period than any other group in the history of serial warfare. Manske was involved in several missions to the Ploesti oil fields and also on raids on Wiener-Meustadt, Regensburg, Steyr, Bacharest, Budapest, Anzio and Vienna, and was never injured although on one occasion his plane had 270 flak holes. For his wartime service Manske was awarded the Alp Medal with seven oak leaf clusters, and a presidential unit citation."
