He was born August 20, 1942, to Mayo John and Josephine Ann Lawrenz, in Billings, MT. He graduated from Laurel High School in Laurel, MT in 1960, and the University of Montana in Missoula, MT, in 1964. Mayo served four years in the U.S. Navy, where he met his wife of 41 years, Patricia Lynn (Lux) Lawrenz. His professional career included 30 years with The Upjohn Co., in Kalamazoo, MI. During his career he was honored with two awards from The Upjohn Academy, as well as the William E. Upjohn Prize in 1988. Mayo and his wife moved to Spanaway, WA in 1996, soon to be followed by both sons and their families. Mayo was preceded in death by his parents, and his identical twin brother, Martin Lawrenz. Surviving are his wife, two sons, four grandchildren, one niece, one nephew and extended family members and friends. All who knew and loved him will miss Mayo's sense of humor, dedication, determination, strength and quiet spirit. A private family service is planned at Fir Lane Memorial Park in Spanaway, WA.
