Mrs. Williams a daughter of the late Berlin and Gracie Ralston Hammer. Survivors include her husband, Louie Williams; two sisters, Mrs. Other Botkin, McDowell, and Mrs. Kenneth Robertson, Bolar. She was a niece of Mrs. Paris Hicklin of McDowell and also leaves four other aunts and two uncles. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. from the McDowell Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Rufus O'Quinn. Burial will be in McKendree Cemetery. The body will remain at Obaugh Funeral Home at McDowell until one hour before the service when it will be placed in the church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Highland Recorder February 1, 1935 AUTOMOBILE WRECK Late Wednesday evening as Mr. Berlin Hammer of eastern part of the county was nearing Squire Wilson’s place on the Cowpasture river, at a narrow sharp curve, his car collided with another, and upset. Mrs. Louie Williams, Mr. Propst and Miss Botkin were in the car with him, all of whom escaped injury except Mrs. Williams, who was reported to be hurt right seriously. Mr. Hammer had taken his daughter, Miss Lenora to the hospital, and returning from Staunton, had gone up the Cowpasture river road as far as Mr. Botkin’s place to get Miss Botkin. Soon after leaving the Botkin place and near James W. Ervin’s house met the above mentioned car on some ice and were unable to make the curve and pass the car. The car was driven home, but was badly wrecked.
