Mr. Earhart was born in Virginia to Carl Rankin Earhart and Willie Mae Wampler Earhart Casey, but had lived in Elizabethton for the last 37 years. Read More	Master Chief William R. “Bill” Earhart, USN (Retired) 80, of 139 Independence Lane, Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 20, 2007, in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Earhart was born in Virginia to Carl Rankin Earhart and Willie Mae Wampler Earhart Casey, but had lived in Elizabethton for the last 37 years. He was born on April 21, 1926, and would have celebrated his 81st birthday on Saturday. He retired from the United States Navy as a Master Chief after 25 years of service, including service during WWII, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He was also retired from the Federal Civil Service. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and the American Legion in Johnson City. He was a member of Borderview Christian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Taylor. Mr. Earhart is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pauline Morris Earhart of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Claudia Earhart, Oak Ridge; two grandsons, Derek S. Earhart and Devin V. Earhart, Oak Ridge; one sister, Edith June Fondren, North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; nephews, Jerry Fondren and Leslie Fondren; nieces Patty Fondren, Terri Fondren, and Natalie Honeycutt; nephew, George Taylor; nieces Bonnie Thurwalker, Edith Dobson, and Evelyn Bond; nephews, Charles Earhart, Darrell W. Earhart, and Carlton Nelson Earhart; niece, Irma Delagraza; and nephew, David W. Earhart. The funeral service for Mr. Earhart will be conducted on Sunday, April 22, 2007, at 8 p.m. in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton, with Mr. Kirk Langston and Mr. Wayne Boswell, ministers, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Scott Reynolds and Ray Don Markland. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6:30-8 p.m. prior to the service and at other time at the residence, 139 Independence Lane, Elizabethton. The graveside service and interment will be Monday, April 23, 2007, at 11 a.m. in Happy Valley Memorial Park, with military honors accorded by Capt. Lynn H. Folsom VFS Post #2166 and the Tennessee Army National Guard. Active pallbearers will be Derek Earhart, Devin Earhart, Lawrence Ritchie, Ray Don Markland, Joel Norris and Earl Ellis. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons and elders of Borderview Christian Church. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Monday to go in procession to the cemetery. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Borderview Christian Church, 1338 Bristol Highway, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
