She married LaVern Caskey on December 13, 1953 in Venus, NE., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She was a longtime member of the Christ Lutheran Church, and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Melba is preceded in death by: parents; step mother, Lillian Held; brother, Vernon Held; sister, Doreen Wood and step brother, Junior Serck. Melba is survived by: husband of 59 years, LaVern Caskey; son, Monte and wife Deb of Fort Collins, CO. and their children: Jason Caskey and wife Shanel, and son Jude, Joshua Caskey and wife Molly, Amanda Caskey and Danielle Caskey; daughter, Angela Pinkerman and husband Marty, of Hastings, NE. and their children: Seth Pinkerman and wife Karissa and Chad Pinkerman; daughter Sandra Hauenstein and husband Brett, of Springfield, VA. and their daughter Haley Hauenstein. Burial was in the O'Neill Cemetery, O'Neill, NE.
