Melbe died Sunday, February 12, 2012, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Melbe attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in Crofton, and graduated from Crofton High School in 1961. Melbe died Sunday, February 12, 2012, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Melbe attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in Crofton, and graduated from Crofton High School in 1961. Melbe's classmates remained very close friends that she stayed in touch with her entire life. On August 29, 1967, Melbe was married to Richard Otto "Rick" Friedrichsen at Crofton. The couple was blessed with three sons, Tim, Nick, and Adam. Melbe and Rick lived in Anaheim, California, and Omaha, Nebraska, before moving to Norfolk, Nebraska in 1969. Melbe owned and operated LaLaine's Beauty Salon on North First Street in Norfolk for 43 years. Melbe was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Norfolk, and served on the Altar Society and Rosary Crusades. Melbe was a past Parish Booster Club President, and was involved in the annual church festival. She loved to travel, "roundtabling" with her sisters, and spending time with her family. Melbe was a great wife, mother, sister, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Melbe is survived by: husband of over 44 years, Rick Friedrichsen of Norfolk; sons, Tim Friedrichsen of Phoenix, Arizona, Nick (Mollie) Friedrichsen of Overland Park, Kansas, and Adam Friedrichsen of Omaha, Nebraska; sisters, Colleen (Darrell) Dreesen of Hartington, Nebraska, Maxine (Loren) Steffen of Crofton, Nebraska, Maureen (Tony) Wesseln of Norfolk, Nebraska, Kay (Paul) Steffen of Hartington, Nebraska, Sherry (Roger) Wortmann of Hartington, Nebraska, and Roxann (Bob) Boeckman of Norfolk, Nebraska; brothers, Dan (Marc) Kollars of Hartington, Nebraska, Rolly (Maxine) Kollars of Crofton, Nebraska, Rick (Cindy) Kollars of Lincoln, Nebraska, Joe (Cindy) Kollars of Crofton, Nebraska, and Doug (Ann) Kollars of Norfolk, Nebraska; and father-in-law, Otto Friedrichsen of Norfolk, Nebraska. Melbe was preceded in death by: parents, Dalph and Odelia Kollars; brother, Delver Kollars; and mother-in-law, Mavis Friedrichsen. Burial was in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk, NE.
