Description	:	Daughter of Jerry & Sarah Spearman Sanders; widow of G.W. Robinson, married April 7, 1895 at the home of her uncle, W.H. Sanders, two miles west of Liberty, SC, by Rev.L.T. Weldon. Her obituary stated she passed away at the home of her sister, Mrs. Eveline Culbertson, 77 East Woodside Avenue, Greenville. She was a native of Pickens County and had made her home with her grandson, Willie Kaiser, for the previous two years. Survived by five daughters and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Fannie Rowland and Mrs. Devore Holcombe, both of Hartwell, GA, Mrs. Vera McKittrick, Mrs.Flora McKittrick, and Mrs. Lena Hunter, all of Easley, and Mrs. Mary Heaton of Jessup, GA; a son, George Robinson of Easley; 42 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Laura McGaha of Tucapau, Mrs. Eveline Culbertson of Greenville, and Mrs. Anna Crowe of Liberty; and two brothers, Grace W. Sanders of Liberty and Luther Sanders of Easley. Funeral services: Wednesday, June 16, 1948, Eastside Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Robert Wheeler, Rev. Carl Ellenburg, and Rev. J.W. Watkins. Burial: Abbott Cemetery, Liberty * Pallbearers: Willie Kaiser, James Robinson, Fred McKittrick, Ossie Heaton, Aaron Robinson, and Waddy Heaton, all of whom were grandsons of Mrs. Robinson. As was still the custom of the day, her remains were returned to the family home for visitation until the time of the funeral. This was to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Obie (Lela) Hunter, 20 Blair Street, Easley. Abbott, Undertaker Liberty, SC Name has been seen as both Sarah Melinda and Melinda Sarah, and also Lindie. Note** Her husband’s 1944 death certificate stated burial in “Liberty, SC” and his obituary stated burial in West View Cemetery. Her 1948 death certificate and obituary both stated burial in Abbott Cemetery. Even though no marker has been found for either, it is believed the section of cemetery where they are both buried is on property officially owned by the Abbott family and was once known as Abbott Cemetery. It is at the bottom of the hill next to a portion of West View Cemetery, owned by the City of Liberty. There are no signs for either cemetery in this area, and over time this property has become known as West View Cemetery in both obituaries and death certificates. There is a signed and named cemetery across the road called Abbott Cemetery, started in the early 1940’s and once owned by the Abbotts, and now owned by a Mr. Galloway, who is also apparently deceased. Note: her daughter Fannie Robinson Rowland has a major mistake with her birth date on her tombstone. She was not born in 1886. Her parents were not married until 1895. Her age in the 1910 Census is 13, with an inferred year of birth as 1897. Her obituary stated she was 54 years old at the time of her death in December 1952, which would infer her year of birth as 1898. An edit was submitted to correct the 1886 to 1898 in April 2020.
