Description	:	Melissa Jane Thornburgh, daughter of Thomas Thornburgh and Nancy Elizabeth Moorman, was born May 12, 1837 in Greene County, Ohio and died May 1923 in Denver, Colorado. She married Amsted Mason Saunders on March 25, 1855 in Cedarville, Ohio. Nine children came to bless their home, of whom seven still survive, but two have passed away. The first was a little girl, named Jane, who died at the age of two years, and William Walter, a son, who drowned in 1878, at the age of 17 years. The surviving children are: Mrs. Eldora Brink of Corning, Iowa, Mrs. Nannie Wilson of Omaha, Nebraska, Mrs. Mary Duthie of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Doshia Scholl of Anita, Iowa, Thorpe Saunders of Kansas City, Missouri, Thomas and Fred Saunders of Anita, Iowa. There are also four great-grandchildren. Mr. Saunders and his family moved from Ohio to Iowa in 1863 and settled in Mahaska county, where they lived for about 14 years. From Mahaska county they came to a farm in Cass county in 1878 where they lived until about 1915 when they moved into the town of Anita and lived with his son, Thomas up to the time of his death. The wife, Melissa Jane, passed away in May 1923.
