Description	:	Melita M. (Mrs. Marvin) Schroeder, 91, of Calamus, Iowa, died Tuesday evening, December 18, 2012, at Maggie's House, DeWitt, Iowa. Mrs. Schroeder, the former Melita May Bentrott was born May 18, 1921, at rural Wheatland, Iowa, to Henry and Lydia (Kroh) Bentrott. At an early age she began helping area farm families. On October 12, 1940, Melita was united in marriage to Marvin Schroeder at Wheatland United Church of Christ. The couple farmed in the Calamus area for over 40 years until retirement in 1981. (Mrs. Marvin) Schroeder, 91, of Calamus, Iowa, died Tuesday evening, December 18, 2012, at Maggie's House, DeWitt, Iowa. Mrs. Schroeder, the former Melita May Bentrott was born May 18, 1921, at rural Wheatland, Iowa, to Henry and Lydia (Kroh) Bentrott. At an early age she began helping area farm families. On October 12, 1940, Melita was united in marriage to Marvin Schroeder at Wheatland United Church of Christ. The couple farmed in the Calamus area for over 40 years until retirement in 1981. Marvin preceded Melita in death on April 10, 2004. She was a member of Saint John's Lutheran Church, Bliedorn. Melita had a devout love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She enjoyed cooking, tending to her lawn and garden, and time spent with her family. Although Melita could not read music, she was an accomplished accordion, organ and piano player. Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Kay Schroeder of DeWitt, and Alan and Linda Schroeder of Lost Nation, Iowa; grandchildren, Rick (JoJo) Schroeder, Sherri (Eugene) Peart, Curtis Schroeder, Brad (Amber Lindemann) Schroeder, Denise Richmond and Tammy Schroeder; great-grandchildren, Samantha Schroeder, Jordan Schroeder, Drew Schroeder, Dominic Peart and Eva Peart; a great-great-grandson, Jayden Hickman; a sister, Marjorie (Charles) Tubbs of Davenport; sisters-in-law, Elenor Bentrott of Lost Nation and Edna Bentrott of Clarence, Iowa; nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death in addition to her husband were her parents, and brothers, Delmar and Duane Bentrott. The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2012. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012, in St. John's Lutheran Church, Bliedorn. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Mound. Pallbearers will be Rick Schroeder, Curtis Schroeder, Brad Schroeder, Drew Schroeder, Brent Bentrott, and Gary Bentrott.
