She was born March 30, 1921, in Farmingdale, a daughter of George L. Boudway and Mellie Peach Boudway. She grew up in Boothbay and attended local schools, graduating from Boothbay Harbor High School. She was a homemaker for many years. After her husband Drummond Giles died in 1976, she began working at Fort Edgecomb as a State Park Receptionist Ranger. She also worked at Whitfield’s Pharmacy in Wiscasset. She was the ballot clerk for Edgecomb for many years. She was a member of the Edgecomb Historical Society and served as its treasurer. She was also a member of the Edgecomb Congregational Church and served as a deaconess for many years. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid. She loved gardening, sewing, reading and wrote the Edgecomb column in The Lincoln County News and Boothbay Register. She was active in the Republican Party and helped put on bean hole bean suppers to help support local school functions. She was predeceased by her husband, Drummond Giles, who died in 1976. She is survived by three sons, Malcolm Giles and wife Dorothy of Edgecomb, Robert A. Giles of Edgecomb, and Kenneth R. Giles of Woolwich; seven grandchildren; ten and a half great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
