Melody Dawn (Olson) Munger was born on May 26, 1960 to Hank and Judy Ann (Krauter) Olson in Miller, SD. She graduated from Wessington Springs High School in 1978 and then earned a degree in Education from Dakota Wesleyan University. She went on to teach 4 years at Lower Brule, 4 years at Kimball and 10 years at St. Joseph Indian School. On September 7, 1996 Melody was united in marriage to Mark Munger at the Kimball Lutheran Church. Melody enjoyed being outdoors working in her flowers or garden - except when she came across a garter snake. The kids have fond memories of camping when they were young and fishing, but she would never touch the fish. She cared for all animals and could spot a bargain at rummage sales. Melody loved being a member of the First Reformed Church in Platte and made blankets on her own to donate to the St. Joseph Indian School graduating class. Her passion for reading was passed down to her grandson, Levi. Melody cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren. Grateful for having shared in Melody's life: her husband, Mark Munger of Kimball, SD; three children and five grandchildren: Amanda Olson (Thad Pickner), Levi Nelson, Ashton Nelson and Sarah Pickner of Chamberlain, SD, Josh (Dayna) Wells, Trenton Wells and Delilah Wells of Platte, SD, and Tanner Wells of Mitchell, SD; three brothers: Marlin (Sara) Olson of Sioux Falls, SD, Mark (Kristi) Hensley and Aaron Hensley both of Brandon, SD; a sister, Angel Olson of Wisconsin; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Melody was preceded in death by: her parents; grandparents, Harold and Oshita Krauter, Willis Stewart; and two aunts: Debra Krauter and Joyce (Willie).
