Description	:	Melvin C. Gore, 80, passed away early Monday morning, Oct. 22, 2007, at Valley Vista Nursing Home. Melvin was born Jan. 15, 1927, the youngest of 12 children. He was educated in Lewistown. He began working for the Dahl Shoe Shop (Stanley Dahl) in the early '40s. He served his country in the U.S. Army, being honorably discharged in 1946. Melvin was born Jan. 15, 1927, the youngest of 12 children. He was educated in Lewistown. He began working for the Dahl Shoe Shop (Stanley Dahl) in the early '40s. He served his country in the U.S. Army, being honorably discharged in 1946. He then worked at a few different shops in town until he began managing the Modern Shoe Shop in Lewistown. Melvin met and later married Kathleen Sparling on Nov. 5, 1950. They went to work for Toomey in Lewistown, later purchasing a shop in Bozeman. The Gore family moved to Lebanon, Ore., where Mel purchased another shoe shop, residing there for 23 years. Mel and Kathleen retired and returned to Lewistown in their later years. Melvin is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Kathy Gore; and 10 of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kathleen E. Gore of Lewistown; his son, Jack L. Gore of Bozeman; daughter and son-in-law, Linda G. and Karl Kaser of Lebanon, Ore.; granddaughter, Maegan Kaser of Lebanon, Ore.; sister, Lillie St. John of Lewistown; and brother, Glenn Gore of Hobson. Cremation has taken place and private committal services will take place at a later date.
