Description	:	HARNISH, Melvin Dean — 82, of Shoreham Village, Chester, (formerly of Mill Cove) passed away October 12, 2012, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. He fought a long and hard battle and will be greatly missed by family, friends and care givers. Born in Mill Cove, he was the son of the late Creighton and Margaret (DeHart) Harnish. Read More	HARNISH, Melvin Dean — 82, of Shoreham Village, Chester, (formerly of Mill Cove) passed away October 12, 2012, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. He fought a long and hard battle and will be greatly missed by family, friends and care givers. Born in Mill Cove, he was the son of the late Creighton and Margaret (DeHart) Harnish. Melvin was a self taught musician and spent many happy hours playing the guitar and fiddle. He loved the outdoors; whether on the water or in the woods, he was in his element. He was a member of the Hubbard’s congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Melvin was a retired member of the International Longshoreman’s Association, Local No. 269. However, his greatest rewards in working came from his time as an inshore fisherman in Mill Cove. He loved to fish and 'talk fish'. His smoked mackerel were second to none. He will be remembered for his kindness to others. Many years of chronic illness didn’t rob him of a positive attitude and his ability to encourage others. Survived by his wife, the former Doris L. Wilson, Mill Cove; daughter, Cheryl (Donald) Stevens, Bridgewater; sons, Kevin, Ottawa, Ont.; Shane (Elsa), Richmond Hill, Ont.; granddaughter, Katherine (Ben Sharp) Stevens, Lunenburg; grandsons, Jody (Louise Gallant) Stevens, Mill Cove; Ryan (Marian) Stevens, Halifax, with Melvin’s newborn great-grandson, Declan; brother, Marcus; sisters, Edna, Brenda and Patsy, all of Mill Cove. Predeceased by brothers, George, Eric, Ronnie, Paul; sisters, Sandra, and Thelma.
