Read More	From the Dubuque Telegraph Herald Youth Killed In Auto Crash Near Dyersville DYERSVILLE -- Melvin F. Fangman, 19, Dyersville, was killed instantly in an automobile crash at 8 pm Monday, accounting for Dubuque county's only traffic fatality in the three-day Labor Day weekend. Fangman was traveling north, about four miles north of Dyersville on blacktop Highway 136 when the accident occurred. Went Down Bank He apparently lost control of his car, authorities said, going off the right side of the highway. The car was found at the bottom of a 15 foot embankment facing the road. The youth's body was lying about five feet from the automobile. A Dyersville doctor, who attended, said Fangman died instantly. The youth suffered severe head, chest and internal injuries. No Witnesses It was believed there were no witnesses to the actual accident. Passerby called the Dyersville police and the Iowa Highway Patrol to the scene. The patrol refused to give any information about the crash, except for the name and address of the youth. Friends may call at the Steger Funeral Home after 7 pm Tuesday. Services will be held at 9 am Thursday from the funeral home to St. Francis Xavier Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. List Survivors Born Sept. 14, 1934, at Dyersville, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Fangman, 602 E. Bethel St., Dyersville. He attended St. Francis Xavier High School and was employed at McDermott Ford Sales, Dyersville. He was a member of the church's rosary society. Surviving are his parents, three brothers, Gilbert, LaVern and Ronald, all at home, and his grandparents, Clem Fangman and Mrs. Margaret Steger, both of Dyersville. He was preceded by a brother. ---- From the September 10, 1954, edition of the Dubuque Telegraph Herald Melvin Fangman DYERSVILLE -- Services for Melvin Fangman, who was killed Monday night in an auto accident north of Dyersville, were held at 9 am Thursday from the Steger Funeral Home to St. Francis Xavier Church in Dyersville. The Rev. David Voels, assistant pastor, sang the Solemn Requiem Mass. The Rev. Edmund Becker, Earlville, Ia., was deacon, and the Rev. William Clark, St. Francis Xavier assistant pastor, was sub-deacon. Burial was at St. Francis Cemetery, with Father Voels conducting graveside services. Pallbearers were John Clemen, Robert Funke, Richard Osterhaus, Richard Meyer, Thomas Bell and David Luensmann.
