Melvin was born January 23, 1931 in Dodge, NE to Joe and Rose (Nagengast) Peitzmeier. He attended Olean Sacred Heart School and Howells High School. Melvin was born January 23, 1931 in Dodge, NE to Joe and Rose (Nagengast) Peitzmeier. He attended Olean Sacred Heart School and Howells High School. He received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Medal. Melvin married Lydia Kalisek on September 1, 1954 at St. John's Catholic Church in Howells, NE. The couple lived in California and Omaha, NE for a short time until moving to Fremont in 1960. Melvin was a painting contractor and owner and operator of Mel's Painting until 1979.He then drove truck for Vigortone Feeds in Fremont and Hill Brothers in Omaha until retiring in 1994. He moved to Omaha last year. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, American Legion Post #20 and Fraternal Order of Eagles #200 all in Fremont. Melvin enjoyed golf and dancing. Melvin is survived by his wife, Lydia; children, Wanda Schmitz and Lori Anderson both of Omaha, Brian (Jennifer) Peitzmeier of Centennial, CO, Darryl Peitzmeier of Elkhorn, NE and Dawn (Bill) Vrtiska of Omaha; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Peitzmeier and sister, Delma Brodecky. Memorial Mass will be 10:30 AM, Friday, December 2, 2016 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. Father David Belt will officiate. Rosary, will be said at 7 PM on Thursday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. A book signing with family receiving friends on Thursday from 5 PM to 7 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont with military honors conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of VFW Post #854 and American Legion Post #20. Memorials may be given to St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Fremont Area Alzheimer's Fund." Moser Memorial Chapel, Fremont, Nebraska.
